According to the Vancouver Sun, the man was found unconscious in a washroom at the Encana Event Center where Hedley was headlining a show alongside My Name Is Kay, Classified and Karl Wolf.
"We are shocked and saddened to hear about the tragic events at the venue in Dawson Creek last night and our hearts go out to the victim's family," Hedley said in a post on Facebook Wednesday night. "Our thoughts and prayers are with everyone who has been affected by this horrible event."
The band also asked anyone with information or witnessed what happened to contact police, the Dawson Creek R.C.M.P. or Crime Stoppers to assist with the ongoing investigation.
"At this stage we believe the three males had an altercation with the two victims," RCMP Constable Lesley Smith said in a press release. The fight carried on into the men's washroom where the victim was found seriously injured. The victim, who has yet to be identified, was transported to Dawson Creek Hospital but died due to his injuries. The other victim suffered non-life-threatening injures and is recovering.
"I understand that a beer was spilled, or knocked down by accident, and the two victims tried to walk away from the incident, but the three suspects assaulted them," Smith said according to the Dawson Creek Daily News. "The three suspects, who were influenced by alcohol, assaulted the two males, who initially had tried to walk away."
The three suspects, reportedly from Fort St. John but not known to police, were later arrested in a drinking establishment and are being held at the Dawson Creek RCMP detachment.
Hedley is currently on its 2012 Shipwrecked tour which continues this evening in Lethbridge, Alberta.

It is very tragic that a young person lost his life over a little spilled beer. Life in this day and age seems to be so expendable. The younger generation has less respect for life than my generation did. The prevelance of drugs and alcohol amoung our young people today is appalling. Stay straight my friends.
