Sleigh Bells, 'SNL': Brooklyn Duo Marries Metal and Teen Pop, Looks Great Doing So

'Saturday Night Live' has played host to plenty of synth-pop and metal acts, but it took Sleigh Bells, last night's (Feb. 18) musical guests, to finally bring those seemingly incongruous sounds together. The noisy Brooklyn duo served up two songs, the rager 'Comeback Kid' and heavy-duty slow jam 'End of the Line,' both of which appear on their sophomore album, 'Reign of Terror,' due out Tuesday.

Sleigh Bells' candy-core thrash has everything to do with their members' resumes. Guitarist Derek E. Miller comes to the project having played with the Florida hardcore group Poison the Well, and last night, armed with a camouflage guitar, he gave both tunes their aggressive edge. Singer Alexis Krauss, meanwhile, got her start in a teen-pop group, and as the belle of the Bells -- a vision in black bangs, biker jacket and pearly white shoes -- she's part Debbie Gibson, part Karen O.
