Beginning with a high-pitched lament from lead singer Nick Brown, 'The Tally' rips into a cathedral-sized chord progression that will get you swaying whether you're in a bar, car or desk chair. Imagine fellow Nashvillians Kings of Leon mixed with the apathetic edge of the Strokes, and throw in a bit of James Dean for good measure.
"'The Tally' is a song about the whirlwind of the opposite sex that you may meet on the road," Brown tells Spinner. "The ups and downs of people's quality or intentions: The chase, the fantasy and the bittersweet fact that it's never what it seems."
Mona's self-titled, self-recorded debut album is out Feb. 28 (in the U.S.) via the band's own label Zion Noiz. Check out the album's bonus track 'The Tally' below!
