According to the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, Estrada, 68, abused a female family member in Tarrant County after being released from a California prison for another child abuse case.
"The victim's family was unaware that he was a convicted sex offender," Tarrant County district attorney office spokesperson Melody McDonald said. "Estrada was sentenced to 25 years in a plea bargain agreement and is not eligible for parole."
Estrada, who pled guilty last month to a charge of continuous sexual abuse of a child, is being held temporarily at the J. Middleton prison unit near Abilene, Texas.
In 1994 Estrada was charged and convicted in Orange County, California of committing a lewd act with a child. After serving a six-year sentence, Estrada relocated and reconnected with family in Texas. In 2008, he was indicted on the most recent charge.
Estrada performed with the Mothers of Invention in the late '60s before forming Little Feat in 1969 with Lowell George and performing on the band's first two albums. After a stint with Captain Beefheart's Magic Band in the '70s, Estrada would return to perform on several Zappa albums in the '80s, including 'You Are What You Is' and 'The Man From Utopia.'
