According to the New York Post, the guitarist, 67, had a bypass procedure at the Mount Sinai Heart Institute in Miami beach early last week. "The surgery was more urgent because Mick had needed it for some time," a source said.
Jones reportedly was removed from intensive care following the surgery and is "recovering well."
Although Foreigner toured last year on a bill with Journey and Night Ranger, Jones missed some of the itinerary due to illness. Night Ranger guitarist Joel Joekstra filled in for Jones on some dates while former Rod Stewart guitarist Bruce Watson subbed for Jones on others. Neither Jones nor the band has made any comment regarding the surgery on Twitter, Facebook or their official site.
Foreigner released their last studio album, 'Can't Slow Down' in 2009. The band is set to mount another round of U.S. dates on March 1. While nothing has been confirmed it's quite unlikely Jones will be ready for the trek.
