Davy Jones Remembered: The Monkees Singer's Greatest Songs

The Monkees often get the short end of the musical stick. Most people can count the number of Monkees songs they know on a single hand, while others may think those songs are either by the Beatles or cheap knock-offs. But though they were cobbled together by industry execs to capitalize on Beatlemania, the Monkees eventually won artistic independence, sort of like a Frankenstein's monster who realizes it's actually insanely talented. Here we take a look at 10 of the Jones', and the Monkees', greatest songs.
Featuring lead vocals by Jones, the song has become a cultural landmark. Just as iconic though is Jones' opening quip: After his exasperated confusion about the recording number, the band responds in unison that the take is number 7A, Jones responded, "OK. I mean, don't get excited, man. It's just 'cause I'm short, I know."
If anybody ever accuses the Monkees of not knowing how to rock properly, kindly direct them to this video.
Taken from 'Headquarters,' the first album the group recorded after winning creative autonomy from their label. The song helped push the album to #1 on the charts before it was ousted by 'Sgt. Pepper's'
Introduced in this video as "the world's best-looking midget," Jones continued to prove himself as a rock 'n' roll giant.
Not only could Jones groove, but he could "Elvis" with the best of them -- even the King himself.
Jones' tambourine playing can run the gamut of emotions, from groovy to angst-ridden, as seen in this clip.
This song was a perfect match for Jones' whimsical nature, and it shows in his vocal delivery. Also, who do you know who can pull off looking that cool in a wetsuit?
Davy plays the sister-stealing lothario on this track -- and handles it pretty well!
It doesn't seem improbable that Axl Rose learned his snake dance move from watching Jones in this video.
Recorded in the twilight of the Monkees' initial run as a band, this song features Neil Young. Though it is a frank take on the transience of pop stars, these two certainly stood the test of time.

There is a saying like this "Only one himself knows if the shoes match his feet or not “。If u really love her /him, age ain't nothing but a number for these loved-up A-Listers. My BF and I both think so! He is almost 10 years older than I .We met via~~--Ageless'date . ℃○M .~~ a nice place for younger women and oldermen, or older women and younger men, to interact with each other! ,Ever feel that you would best enjoy someone who is not in your age group? If u are really interested in it, maybe u wanna check it out or tell your friends.

Having watched the show as a girl, listening to the music for decades, and then watching the marathon after he died, it was so enjoyable to go down the line of these videos and enjoy them again (some of them several times). How can one watch them and not smile and want to dance? Thanks so much for putting this tribute together and making it available!

The tragedy is, is that being a "Monkee" cost him a serious acting career, but he graciously accepted his fate without bitterness and made the best of it.

He will be missed and should be given the recognition he rightly deserves. As for all you spammers using this news story to peddle your useless website, I'd like to invite you to go **** yourselves.
