"We all had dinner about a month ago and decided that the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame would be the perfect time and place," he said.
Despite the band's amicable get-together, they don't have any plans on taking it further than the one-off gig. "We'll just have to see how it does. I'd like to think there's more to come, although it depends how everyone's individual schedules are shaping up. But we're all really looking forward to getting up on stage again, it's been far too long.
The Faces, who formed from the ashes of the Small Faces in 1969, put out four LPs in their six-year history. Stewart left the band to pursue a massively successful solo career while guitarist Ronnie Wood went on to join the Rolling Stones.
The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony takes place in Cleveland on April 14.
