Nardwuar the Human Serviette Gets GQ Profile, Ignites 'Letterman' Twitter Campaign

Iconic Canadian journalist-musician-prankster Nardwuar the Human Serviette mentioned how he would like to appear on the Late Show with David Letterman in a recent GQ profile, saying it was something he's been trying to do unsuccessfully for nearly two decades. Now it appears that small tidbit has taken a life of its own on Twitter.

According to the Vancouver Sun, a Twitter campaign began on Wednesday in the form of the hashtag #GetNardwuarOnLetterman, pushing to see Nardwuar's dream fulfilled.

A few dozen people have taken up the cause, including Vancouver-based Nimbus Recording and Saskatchewan band Over the Air.

"As musicians, fans, and as Canadians we want to help make this happen! #GetNardwuarOnLetterman," the band tweeted.

Nardwuar -- who told GQ he approaches interviews in a manner inspired by Arsenio Hall -- may also end up with another honour if some fans have their way. A tweet sent by Jason Mgh Sulyma to Vancouver Mayor Gregor Robertson reads as follows: "Dear @MayorGregor. A LOT of us have been discussing getting a @Nardwuar statue built&placing it somewhere special in #Vancouver!interested?"

The Mayor has yet to respond to the idea but it has been retweeted by others.

Nardwuar recently went to Austin's South By Southwest Festival where he interviewed rap artists such as Danny Brown, A$AP Rocky and Action Bronson among others.

He also performed with his punk band The Evaporators during the festival, and spoke to Spinner about the experience. The Evaporators released a new album Busy Doing Nothing! earlier this year featuring bands like Franz Ferdinand and Kate Nash covering Canadian punk acts.
