Eddie Vedder Postpones Tour Due to Nerve Damage After Back Injury

"After having worked aggressively with doctors and physical therapists for the last eight weeks to repair the damage, the intensity of the injury and time needed to heal has made it impossible to play the shows as scheduled," Pearl Jam's manager Kelly Curtis said. "There was hope up until the last minute that the treatments would be successful. Sincerest apologies go out to those who have made plans and bought tickets. Eddie is frustrated beyond measure, but remains positive that come this summer all will be back in good form."
The postponed dates will be made up this fall, with ticketing info available on Pearl Jam's site. Glen Hansard of the Swell Season and the Frames will open the shows, which unfortunately don't include a makeup appearance for Vedder's planned set at the New Olreans Jazz Fest.
Vedder's solo album, Ukulele Songs, was released in May 2011.

The reason Vedder's therapy is taking too long because in his case, he's just too chicken to get a recommended surgery to treat his herniated disc.
