The singer claims that after he terminated her in 2004, he was showered with death threats and harassing phone calls and e-mails from Lynch, despite obtaining a number of restraining orders against her. He recently appeared before a Los Angeles court to give evidence against Lynch, who is on trial for her harassment of Cohen.
"It started with just a few now and then, but it eventually accelerated to 20 or 30 a day," Cohen explained. He elaborated that Lynch sometimes left voicemails up to 10 minutes long saying that he "needed to be taken down and shot" and often sent him e-mails that were up to 50 pages in length.
Cohen confessed, "It makes me feel very conscious about my surroundings. Every time I see a car slow down, I get worried," the L.A. Times reports.
Cohen fired Lynch after she apparently stole $5 million from him, prompting him to go out on tour in order to make back some of his money. Cohen will be on the road behind his latest album Old Ideas in Europe starting later this summer.
