Rolling Stones Recording? Ronnie Wood Says Band Will Hit Studio This Month

The Rolling Stones may be delaying their 50th anniversary tour until 2013, but the legendary rock group will be heading into the studio later this month, according to guitarist Ronnie Wood. Speaking to the Mirror, Wood said the band would commune in a recording studio in order "to just throw some ideas around," and "to get the feel again."

Wood alluded that the sessions could just be a warm-up for their upcoming anniversary trek. "It's like working out for the Olympics or something," Wood explained. "You've got to go into training. So we're going to go into training." Wood's comments came following a press conference at his art exhibition "Faces, Time and Places."

The news isn't completely surprising, as Keith Richards had previously told Spinner about the Stones' plans to jam in London. "The idea is to go in December. I said, 'Jesus Christ, we haven't played together for a couple of years. We better get our chops together.' So it basically is just like that, it's just a jam," he told us in November 2011, adding that the sessions were open to all the band's members, past and present. "I mean, everybody's welcome. I was going to ask Bill Wyman to come by too. And Mick Taylor. The whole lot. They're all Stones, you know? Why not?"

The Rolling Stones are not Wood's only band with major events on the horizon. On Saturday, he will be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a member of the Faces. Wood has already been inducted into the Hall of Fame as a member of the Rolling Stones in 1989.
