"After weeks of suffering from symptoms of vocal strain and burnout, I've decided to postpone shows and rest my voice," Edwards wrote on her Facebook page this afternoon (April 11). "A very fun but grueling few months of concerts, press and promotions has given me little time to rest, and it has finally caught up with me. After a second round of doctor visits and steroids to help stave off the symptoms of fatigue, I realize the only option now is to go home and allow my throat to heal."The tour was to conclude later this weekend but Edwards will reschedule dates in Regina, Saskatoon, Winnipeg and Minneapolis at a later date. Tickets for the original date will be honored at the new date but if "you would like a refund, please contact the local venue box office."
"Hi friends," she tweeted earlier today. "Sorry to tell you Regina Saskatoon Winnipeg and Minneapolis are not happening. No voice. No show :((("
While Edwards carried on with dates over the weekend, she did foreshadow that her voice was "very very very tired." "A day off is what the doctor ordered," she posted to Facebook on Sunday. "Right after I take these steroids...."
In related news, Edwards, who is slated to appear at this year's Osheaga music festival in Montreal, recently recorded a Tiny Desk Concert for NPR.
