This means that the Faces will be unable to perform at the ceremony, which is being held this weekend in Cleveland. This will not be the first time Stewart will miss being inducted into the hall of fame: In 1994, he missed his induction as a solo performer after the San Fernando earthquake had struck fear into the hearts of his young children just two days earlier.
"Lead singers are dropping like flies. Rod, Axl Rose," said Faces guitarist Ronnie Wood, referring to Rose's public rejection of his Rock Hall honor. However, despite lacking their frontman, a Faces performance is still be in the cards, with Simply Red's Mick Hucknall taking Stewart's place. "Between everybody here we've got a great band," Wood hinted. The ceremony will be broadcast on HBO at 9 p.m. EST/PST on May 5.
