She's the reigning queen of electro dance smut, but the Toronto ex-pat known to musical perverts around the world as Peaches is hoping to conquer another genre -- opera.
When Spinner caught up with Peaches at Lollapalooza Brazil she explained that she's about to start a proper opera in Berlin called L'Orfeo.
"Right now I'm doing real opera," Peaches tells Spinner in an exclusive video interview. "It's called Orpheus, it's like the first opera ever written in like the 1600s by Monteverdi and I'm playing the role of Orfeo -- Orpheus -- and everyone else is an opera singer but me. So that's what I've been doing for the last five months, actually."
Peaches is selling herself short on saying that's all she's been up to, however. The "AA XXX" singer competed two different rock operas in recent years -- a one woman send-up of Andrew Lloyd Webber's Jesus Christ Superstar called Peaches Christ Superstar, and a 40-person fake auto-biographical stage play called Peaches Does Herself.
Peaches Does Herself features "dancers, trannies, old strippers... we made a film of it," she says. "I'm hoping soon that will show."
Then there's the whole reason Peaches was at Lollapalooza Brazil -- to perform as the Peaches DJ Extravaganza -- her gender equalizing dance party.
"It's really fun," says Peaches of her DJ set. "I have this great new DJ extravaganza where it's just me and a costume with a lot of boobs and two awesome dancers so we just tear it up.
"My show is not too racy, it's just a lot of energy from a powerful woman and if people can't deal with that they should go back to seeing indie boy bands for life."
In the video interview Peaches also discusses gender inequality in DJing, her dislike for actors, and her first visit to Brazil, amongst other topics.
