According to Fuse, the musician is set to play Jimi Hendrix in a biopic entitled All By My Side. The information was gleaned from the Irish Film and Television Network, which issued the news on Friday. The site states the film, which will be shot in Ireland, will deal with Hendrix's 1966-67 period in England while creating his debut album Are You Experienced.
All By My Side is currently in pre-production with principal photography set for Dublin and Wicklow in a few weeks time. The shooting is expected to go for six weeks. John Ridley, whose credits include Three Kings and U-Turn, will direct and write the film.
The film is expected to take Hendrix from being discovered in a New York City club to his eventual trek to London which launched his iconic career.
Andre 3000 -- born Andre Lauren Benjamin -- isn't new to both the small screen and big screen. Some of his film credits include the comedy Semi-Pro with Will Ferrell, the 2006 film OutKast: Idlewild and Scary Movie 4. Meanwhile, his television credits include appearing in the critically acclaimed series The Shield.
There's no word as to when the film will be released but three companies (Subotica Entertainment, Darko Entertainment and Matador Pictures) will produce the movie under the name Watchtower Film Productions.
Andre 3000 said he's been working on a lot of collaborations lately, but that a proper OutKast album is unlikely in the near future. OutKast released its last studio album Speakerboxxx/the Love Below in 2003.
