Deadmau5 Almost Sets Himself, Club on Fire

Canadian DJ Joel Zimmerman, better known as Deadmau5, almost set himself and an entire club on fire Friday night, reports the New York Post. The incident occurred at Meatpacking District club Provocateur where the progressive house superstar had erected his trademark gigantic 7-foot mouse head to commemorate his set.

The incendiary event happened while Zimmerman was premiering a new song entitled "The Veldt." During the song he lit an air horn, igniting a huge spark which almost engulfed a celebrity filled crowd -- including model Hillary Rhoda and singer Ciara -- in the blaze. Outside, there were almost 200 people waiting to enter the hotspot.

"Omg I actually lived through that ... Nearly blew up myself and a Buncha people in the booth. Pyros a [bleep]," he tweeted. At least the DJ lived up to the name of the club he was playing at!

Okay in response to pissing match about what professional title would be correct to use in reference to a Deadmau5 preformance....lets break it down one time....A DJ or Disc Jockey would spin records or discs....so thats out(not even sure if he can beatmatch). A producer is the creator of the music most commonly known as a studio producer cause they create in the studio and not to be mistaken with a live producer ie: Bill Bless, Aphex Twin who actually creates the music live on the fly....Deadmau5 is what known as a controllerist when preforming live cause yes granted he was the producer when in the studio now all hes doing is called controlled launching of his already produced clips which are quantized to a beat grid in Ableton Live thus making it nearly impossible to **** up.....So he is a man that wears many hats but only one at a time but a DJ he is not.....

KenC he was playing an Unhooked set, when he plays unhooked he is considered more of a "DJ". When he plays a show with his Cube he sticks to his music/remixes of his songs by other people. Look at his set lists there all his music. for example ..
