Artist: Steve Barton
Video: "Bowie Girl"
Highlight: "The songs on my Projector album were written in the aftermath of my dad's passing," Steve Barton tells Spinner. "To me, 'Bowie Girl' is a tip of the hat to how much David Bowie meant to me as a teenager. The song talks about growing up in our house. The first line is 'Close the door to the hallway/kill the light, pretend it's 'House on Haunted Hill'/Scary Theremin themes play ... ' -- I have a vivid memory of me and my sister playing haunted house as children, and that lyric sums it up perfectly -- we would sing a weird horror-film type of melody and shriek our lungs out."

"It goes on to talk about being a teenager and trying with all my might to 'push a pebble through a locked door' – you know, teenage angst. The saving grace for me was Bowie. I was fortunate enough to see him with the Spiders From Mars. I was pressed up against the stage, right in front of Mick Ronson. "Projector" was recorded quickly, and we wanted to keep the same approach with the video. This video was done in the front room of my house. We kept it as stark and direct as possible – just like the album."
