Paul Simon: Reunion With Art Garfunkel Won't Happen

According to NME, Paul Simon has rendered the possibility of a reunion less than likely. Speaking to BBC Radio 4's Today program, Simon says that the same trouble with Art Garfunkel's vocal chords that postponed last year's 13-date tour has also turned the prospect of a reunion a "moot point."
Simon remarked that he would "would just as soon not go back and visit the past." The duo have not completed a record together since 1970's Bridge Over Troubled Water. Even though we are bummed about the receding possibility of a Simon and Garfunkel reunion, we are extremely excited about all this Graceland-related stuff coming up because Graceland was the best thing ever.

Simon and Garfunkel Reunion Tour

Paul Simon, sure we love him with or without Art. However the truth of the matter is that without Art Garfunkel......his solo act gets a bit tired. The "past" is what made Paul Simon who he is today.....hopefully he won't forget that in his egomaniacal head.

Just so happens, the last time I visited with Paul, was when he was touring with 'opening act' Brian Wilson 'himself.' Not that you can call Brian your typical 'opening act.' I've been booking and promoting talent since 1962--and I can honestly say: the absolute two best touring bands out there are Brian and Paul's bands. (Only one who comes even close--and please DON't laugh--is Barry Manilow's band. Yes, Barry Manilow--who is also on tour this summer). It's a great year for 60's-70's acts. I hope they fill up many a venue--and PLEASE--try to keep those ticket prices affordable. I hate to rub it in to you 'youngsters,' but when I started booking and producing concerts an 18 year old in 1962, my ticket prices were $1.75 to $2.50--and this included The Beach Boys, The Four Seasons, Paul Revere and The Raiders, The Righteous Brothers, The Dave Clark 5, The Crickets (congrats on your Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction, J.I., Sunny and Joe B!) and The Ventures, among others. Gas was $0.39 a gallon and you could go out on a date with your significant 'other' -- including gas, dinner, and a great concert--for $10!! Those were the days, my friends. And there was no Ticketmaster to further jack up the price. God luck, Paul, Art and band! See you on the road.

Next we will be going your Woodstock memory lane rants.........boring. Yea.....I remember going to the Fillmore East for $3.50 to see Janis Joplin, Jimi Hendrix and the Doors.....all on the same ticket. So....who cares and what else is new. Ever hear of the expression "what was is the lowest form of conversation"......save it for the dinner table. Ba-bye.

And reuniting with Garfunkel is not something anybody with a heartbeat would care for at this juncture in time. I'd rather spin a record or cd and listen to them at their prime than look at 2 wrinkled bags of bones croaking nostalgic.
