Artist: Jim Hanft
Video: "Television"
Highlight: "'Television' is a song that I originally wrote as a gift for my Mom after her surgery," Jim Hanft tells Spinner. "I couldn't make it back home to be there so a song was the next best thing. I emailed her a demo of the song and somewhere along the lines I started to play it live, and by the time we recorded the album it had become a staple to our shows. The music video came about when the director (Joseph M. Petrick) bought 15 minutes worth of 8mm (soon to be extinct) film and asked about shooting a video with just that 15 minutes worth of film and no after effects. Two days later we went out to the desert with a bunch of found objects and my favorite plaid shirt and shot the video. I think shooting the video right away like that really captured the impulsive creative process that went into writing the song and because of that the video is such a great extension of the mood and lyrics."
