Dubstep hero Martyn on American brostep: "Dubstep in the US has taken the place of nu metal. An electronic music rave in America now is like a Limp Bizkit concert 10 years ago. If you listen to a Skrillex set, it's basically just an orgasmic reaction every three minutes. It has little to do with what dubstep was really all about." Yup. [TheGuardian]
Very excited to hear new Scuba tracks, after his set at Barcelona's Primavera Sound Festival. In the meantime, the Hot Flush boss has switched to his techno moniker SCB for a remix of his next single "NE1BUTU (SCB Edit)." Nice. [Soundcloud]
After releasing their stellar debut Crooks & Lovers on Hotflush, dubstep duo Mount Kimbie have announced that they have signed with Warp for their forthcoming sophomore LP. Cannot wait. [Facebook]
Very excited for Surahn Sid aka SidWho? formerly of The Swiss, who co-wrote "Say the Words" on Usher's No 1 album Looking 4 Myself. Prince vibes, so great. [YouTube]
Really digging this new Fantastic Man EP, It's Essential, on Let's Play House, now available on wax. Really excellent release. [SoundCloud]
New wave and post punk fans would do well to check out Young Edits' River & Phoenix Project, Castle Rock, on Editainment Germany, who have also released similar edit EPs by Tiger & Woods, Pop & Eye. Click the link to check out a Young Edits mix, featuring a collection of his edits. [SoundCloud]
Wow. Midland's Boiler Room mix is really, really good. Melodic house vibes, plenty of bass and percussion, from Soundstream and Boddika to Cajmere. Don't miss this. [BoilerRoom]
