Big Scary, 'Falling Away' -- Video Premiere + Free Download

Australian duo Tom Iansek and Jo Syme have been perfecting the sound of Big Scary since 2008, dabbling in everything from garage rock to piano-laden pop ballads. Now the pair is prepping for the upcoming release of Vacation, their latest full-length record.

The band's song "Falling Away" is a great introduction to Big Scary's sound. At first, we hear a common piano line that rings out above a fuzzed-out drum kit. But once the chorus kicks in, a mix of percussive keyboard and angelic vocals carry us away on a pop cloud.

The corresponding video for "Falling Away" follows a man with dementia, wondering around in the dark for his younger self. It's beautifully shot, and isn't something you see all that often.

"I love the use of dark and light in the clip, it really draws you in. Not quite sure what you're looking for or where the story is leading you until right at the end," singer Tom Iansek tells Spinner.

"The song itself is about being told life's lessons as opposed to learning them for yourself. It's essentially a song about growing up. But the video portrays an older man with dementia and is a journey in a senior's mind, trying to recapture a younger version of himself. The director, Daniel Cummings, brought that to it and the dichotomy between these two angles is one of my favorite things about the video."
