Diamond Rings: Electro-Rocker's New Look -- 'It's Max Headroom Meets Klaus Nomi'

"Who are you wearing?" is probably the most cliche red carpet question of all time. But when Diamond Rings (born Josh O'Reagan) hit the red carpet at the MuchMusic Video Awards on Sunday, the more appropriate question was "What are you wearing?"

According to the indie glam musician the silver jumpsuit and mirror ball glasses are a part of the new look he's planning for his brand new single and video, which he'll be releasing by the end of the month.

"This is one of the outfits I'm wearing in the video. It's a sneak peek right now," he tells Spinner. "It's Max Headroom meets Klaus Nomi meets 2022."

Although Diamond Rings' new single, video and forthcoming album are taking up most of O'Reagan's time right now, the prolific artists admits that he's been tinkering on some shameful side projects at home.

"Diamond Rings is pretty all-consuming," he says. "I mean, I do a lot of interesting things. But I'm pretty embarrassed by them. The sort of dark side of my musical hard drive."

He has no current plans to release his more self-indulgent experiments, but doesn't rule out the possibility of doing something with them in the future.

"Maybe eventually," he says with a shrug. "We're talking 60minutes of ambient drones, that kind of stuff. It's just me in a garage with a guitar peddle for an afternoon or something. That'll come out later."

And, in the spirit of not ruling anything out, is there any hope for more material from O'Reagan's beloved post-punk band the D'Urbervilles, or are the officially dead?

"Nothing's ever dead," Diamond Rings says, smiling cryptically. "Nothing's ever dead."
