Dragonette MMVA: Band Says 'Hello' on Red Carpet, Reveals New Album Nearly Done

Canadian expat electro poppers Dragonette are thoroughly enjoying their summer vacation. Kicking things off with a quick and easy presentation gig at the 2012 MuchMusic Video Awards, which pretty much ended up being the Carly Rae Jepsen show, the trio were excited about just how little they had to do.

"There's very little pressure coming to an event like this and not having to perform and not being up for an award," singer Martina Sorbara told Spinner on the MMVA red carpet, genuinely enthused. "We can just hang out and have a good time. That's awesome."

The rest of the season looks to be just as low pressure for the group. With their third album all but completed, Dragonette plan to relax a little before they gear up for the disc's release and subsequent hoopla this fall.

"We're just getting the new songs under our belts," said Sorbara. "The summer's turning out to be really fun and easy. On the weekends, we're playing some fun shows. On the weekdays, we're just chilling out, finishing the album and getting ready for a big tour in the fall."

Despite early reports that the forthcoming album would share a name with its first single, "Let it Go," released this past April, Sorbara insists that the actual title wasn't officially chosen until moments before they hit the red carpet.

"We just solidified the album name, like, today."

But she couldn't quite bring herself to reveal what it is.

"I feel like I can..." she teased. "But yeah. I feel like, because it's so new, I'm not sure if I want to release it yet."
