"'Revolution is a song of affirmation and agitation. Love and fight. Security and breaking free. And all of these dichotomies seem to be so black and white, so opposite, but when we get to see the many hues of the world through choice, gender, politics, lifestyle, voice and the way we move, it's all a revolution, just to be as we are," the Toronto-based Talibah tells Spinner. "This is what I feel when I see the treatment that Charles [Wahl, the director] gave to the song. So powerfully subtle and colorful."
"It's not every day I get an opportunity to work with a song that has a powerful and inspirational meaning behind it like 'Revolution' does," Wahl says. "The goal with the 'Revolution' music video was to find a way to visually capture that message with power and intensity. The video is about humanity and how we're all so different, but in certain situations we're quick to dehumanize each other. Working with Saidah is always a blast, and I feel really lucky that I got to collaborate with her again and be involved with such an uplifting song."
