"'Long Brown Hair' is mixing hard beats and the rage of a lot of girls that date in the Internet age. The topic is a familiar one, especially with the Internet. In one morning Facebook session, you can trace the trail of tears of a lover in an instant," Sheffield tells Spinner. "When I came up with the concept and directed the video, I wanted to illustrate the fantasy of a jet set couple, a frivolous fight and then a turn, that is covered in the verses. But in the hard drops of this banger, it's an abstract surreal world of images. From the torture of the boyfriend to is it his hell or the singer's hell? Are they demons of her imagination or all his other lovers, trailing her, or is she destroying them?"
"Or is it just hot to have a bunch of girls laying in a bath tub? Directing it, I wanted to play with the narrative and then rip it all apart," she continues. "It's an ode to my favorite director and friend Gasper Noe. He was kind enough to allow me to use the background sound from his epic movie 'Enter the Void' for the first eight seconds of my video. This video was made with a lot of favors even skater Chad Muska allowed me to use his house and his art is featured on the walls. Designer Brian Lichtenberg contributed the opening dress and Adram Drawas and Seven showroom supplied all the gowns. I'm really proud of it, thankful to all my friends and for Ultra records to trust me to direct my first single."
Sheffield's new single is available now via Ultra records. Check out her sexy video for "Long Brown Hair" below. Oh, and guys, if you have a "type" -- don't let C.C. know.
