Metric's Canadian Tour Announced -- Synth-Rockers Officially an Arena Band Now

Canadian synth-rock group Metric will mount a 10-date tour across Canada in November in support of their new album Synthetica. The tour officially and definitely proves that Emily Haines and the rest of the band have arrived -- they'll be playing arenas. The tour follows an extensive jaunt through Europe, Australia and the U.S.

According to the band's official site, the Canadian trek begins Nov. 9 in Victoria with two additional dates in British Columbia: Vancouver (Nov. 10) and Kelowna (Nov. 12). Other dates include Calgary (Nov. 14), Edmonton (Nov. 15), Regina (Nov. 16), Winnipeg (Nov. 17), London (Nov. 19) and Kingston (Nov. 23) before wrapping things up Nov. 24 at Toronto's Air Canada Centre. Romantic poppers and fellow extended Broken Social Scene family members Stars will be the special guest for the entire Canadian trek.

Although there is no date for Montreal in November, the group is confirmed for the Osheaga festival Aug. 5. And while nothing has been confirmed -- and this pure speculation -- the band also has no dates confirmed for mid-October. The lack of shows at that time coincides with the Halifax Pop Explosion taking place Oct. 16-20.

Metric -- who recently released the video for "Youth Without Youth" from the tense new album -- staged a string of fans-only free gigs in select cities earlier this month including Montreal, Toronto and Vancouver. The band's next gig is set for tomorrow evening in Berlin.

In related news, and previously reported last week, Stars announced details of their new studio album The North set for a Sept. 4 release. The band offered a free download of the album's leadoff track "The Theory of Relativity."
