With July 4th just around the corner, Eliot put together a summer-themed hip-hop and bass mix entitled "Summer Trap Mix," featuring tracks by AraabMuzik, Brenmar, Blackmill, several of his own original compositions and a remix of Nicki Minaj's "Beez in the Trap."
We sat down with Eliot to talk (really) briefly about the mix, and his relationship with his new label owner Derek Smith, aka Pretty Lights, whose music-for-free model has proven to be a highly effective means of promoting releases in a struggling economy.
What inspired you to do a trap mix?
I love southern rap beats and all the EDM that's been inspired by it.
How did you end up on Pretty Lights Music, and how does your music stuff fit in with the rest of the roster?
I've known Derek (Pretty Lights) and all the artists on the label for a few years now, so it was a pretty natural fit. I'm stoked to be working with these guys, giving away the music for free is huge for me. I think it's the way of the future.
