Dennis Flemion Missing, Presumed Dead: Frogs Drummer Disappeared Saturday in Wisconsin
- Posted on Jul 10th 2012 8:30AM by Kenneth Partridge
Formed in 1980 by Dennis and his brother Jimmy, the Frogs were famous for their outlandish stage gear and envelope-pushing lyrics. While the duo never achieved major commercial success, they were beloved by many '90s alt-rock artists, among them Billy Corgan, who took to Twitter yesterday to salute the apparently deceased rocker.
"I'm devastated by the loss of my friend Dennis Flemion," he tweeted. "Words can't explain the sorrow. A tragic loss. Please pray for his family."
Gerard Cosloy of Matador Records penned his own tribute to Dennis and sent his thoughts to Jimmy and the entire the Flemion family.
"Dennis was without question, one of the funniest persons I've ever encountered," Cosloy wrote. "Painfully so. It would not be an exaggeration to say there were several times in which his verbal evisceration chops were almost impossible to keep up with (those who've attended Frogs shows over the years know exactly what I'm talking about). ... The fantastic output and fleeting moments of near-fame aside, I hope he's remembered as a really sweet guy first, and a hugely talented artist second."

Bands like that have helped to destroy music. Sad that he may have passed away as that is young. But for real these big hair gimmick non talented screaming bands have never done anything to advance music. Its almost as bad as that rap crap.

July 10 2012 at 2:53 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyThis is a bummer. I hope he is OK. The world needs more bands that are talented yet simultaneously filled with the most offensive humor ever put to music.

July 10 2012 at 2:00 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplySome of these comments are really insensitive. I knew Dennis... went to school with his children. That man was one of the kindest, most hilarious men I have ever met. He was held in high regards by everyone he knew... including some of rock music's biggest names. Before you make such comments... consider the fact that he was an incredibly caring family man first and foremost, just starting to be able to enjoy an early retirement with his wife and children. Some of you should grow up.
