Konx-om-Pax Mix for Spinner: Electronic Producer & Visual Artist Offers Exclusive Set
Planet Mu
Konx, born Tom Scholefield, has an equally diverse background. In addition to releasing his own music and acting as Mogwai's touring DJ, the gifted producer is also a 3D film director and visual artist, and has crafted videos for the likes of Martyn, Kuedo, Lone and Jamie Lidell.
While we await the release of his LP, Konx explains that his mix for Spinner collects some of the album's many influences.
"The selection was mainly based around some of the main influences for the album, like some of the soundtracks stuff, alongside some of my friends' music that I've worked with over the years," he tells us.
When working on art and video projects with a deadline, Konx says that "dubby techno" helps him to focus, however, much like the rest of us, he opts for early Aphex Twin ambient tracks when he needs to clear his head.
"If I've got a deadline and need to work quickly I like listening to dubby techno, like Basic Channel," he explains. "I zone out to it, but it helps me work at a quicker pace. If I'm coming up with ideas, I like sticking on old Aphex ambient stuff to help clear my mind."
