Doorly Tour Journal: After Webster Hall Stabbing, UK Producer Gets Manicured, Hits Vegas

UK producer Doorly sent over a journal from his North American tour, which began with a cancelation at New York's Webster Hall on July 6, after the stabbing/biting incident at the Cro Mags show at the venue earlier in the evening.

Well, a cracking start to the tour, with the first gig being cancelled at Webster Hall in New York due to an incident at an event held in the venue earlier in the evening. Huge shame, as I know a load of people made the journey into town for this party and Webster hall is somewhere I LOVE playing, but we are already working on a make up date so we will re-schedule that show as soon as humanly possible.

So, on the night, rather than admit defeat we phoned around all of our contacts in NYC to see if anyone had a place we could throw a party so I could still play to everyone who had made the effort to come to Webster. With the best offer coming through Twitter being a loft apartment with no sound system and everywhere else being too short notice, I decided to loiter around Beauty Bar in East Village with the Webster Hall crew -- obviously taking advantage of their competitive $10 manicure on my money makers whilst sipping on a selection of manly cocktails!

Thanks to all the kids who came down for a drink with us on the night, as I said before, I promise we will make that show up to you and do it again soon.

As is usually the case with my nights out, a gentlemanly manicure and cocktail soiree of course ended up as an all-nighter, going straight through to my airport pick up to JFK. Luckily the seven hour flight (bedtime) teamed with the Hard Rock Hotel's excellent two pint Strawberry Cheesecake cocktails (breakfast) meant that I was in peak physical condition by the time I took to the stage at 1pm for the Nectar Music Festival Pool Party.

The Hard Rock pool is ridiculously cool, it has a man-made sandy beach as part of it, and having just DJ'd in 116 degree heat I was straight in after my set for the rest of the day!

My idea of sightseeing is usually airport arrivals lounge-to-hotel-room-to-club, so I thought I should probably make the effort to check out a bit of Vegas and/or a fake New York in Vegas via a rollercoaster (New York / New York Hotel). Also I managed to live a life-long dream of throwing myself off a building and surviving (The Sky Jump @ The Stratosphere!).

Having survived my failed suicide attempt, our boy AJ from Hard Rock Hotel wanted to take us away from the main strip and show us "real vegas" in the downtown area.

We went out for a quick bite to eat in one of Vegas's more health-conscious establishments, where I was understandably devastated to not qualify for the "over 350 lbs eats free" offer weighing in at a measly 204 lbs!.

I'm pretty sure that I'll be in with a better chance by the end of this tour though if I keep eating the way I have been!

After a healthy balanced meal we heading towards the old strip to see some of Vegas's "colourful" characters including a pervy cupid dressed in a dirty nappy and a dancing crackhead Santa.

Not loitering

Luckily, there was just enough time for a bit more loitering before heading back to the hotel for some obligatory Vegas gambling.
