In Their Words: "This is one of those songs that start as a sort of cerebral contamination. Like an ear worm except that it's born on the inside and forcefully digs its way out. It was the melody that bookends the song that wouldn't let me alone. It came attached to a Leadbelly lyric that I would have kept if it didn't feel a little inappropriate for two white kids to sing something about blackberries and juice. But those words and the melody became so inseparable to me that I had trouble writing my own.
