Kandle's new video is a real mood piece that fits "Small" perfectly. Dressed as various characters, from corner hookers to a straight-A student, Osborne is photographed before spending an evening in the slammer.
"Kandle and I have been talking about working together ever since she started making music under her own name. We both subscribe to the same dark-yet-dreamy aesthetic and she always gets into my ideas and I her music. There's a creative trust between the two of us, so our collaborations always work out well," the video's director Claire Edmondson tells Spinner.
"The idea for "Small" came to me by way of accident through her sister, Coral. I was listening to 'Small,' thinking about the treatment, when Coral, who knows me and my interests well, serendipitously posted an image of a woman with a mugshot on my Facebook wall. I was listening to the song and staring at the image and that's when the idea came to me. My goal was to capture the subtleties within the emotions within these 'bad girls' and avoid obvious clichés."
The drums on the bridge section of "Small" are enough to cripple your Wednesday morning into a melancholy online search for similarly lilting rock. Kandle's self-titled EP is out now via Mercy records. Check out her newest clip below.
