Grimes Gets Her Equipment Stolen in Manchester

Montreal electronic artist and 2012 Polaris Music Prize nominee Grimes had an immediate hurdle to climb on her current British tour after her gear was stolen last night in Manchester.

NME reports Grimes (born Claire Boucher) tweeted the information about the theft. The musician was performing at the HMV Ritz.

"Hey manchester!" she tweeted earlier today. "all the grimes gear was stolen last night - if you know anything about this get at me!"

There's no word if local police have been contacted regarding the stolen gear.

If there's any bright side it's that Grimes isn't slated to perform this evening though she does have a show at Ireland's Electric Picnic tomorrow before a two night stand at London's Heaven on Sept. 5-6 before festival slots at Bestival and the Isle Of Wight.

Grimes, who released a new video for the song "Genesis" recently, is touring behind her latest album Visions.

Aside from the theft, Grimes seemed to be enjoying her British trek, tweeting how she wanted to become a "medieval scottish person" on Aug. 28 while tweeting the following day how she loved Scottish promoters because "every night so far they have given us aged whiskey to take home." This was after stating she had performed a show in "a hot dog stand."

As previously reported, Grimes made headlines earlier this month after reacting to the Pussy Riot verdict in Russia.

"It's funny to me because I think a lot of people are just realizing now how fucked up Russia is, and like, I'm not surprised at all that that situation is happening," she said in an interview with NME.
