Video: "Wild Summer"
Highlight: "'Wild Summer' was inspired by some friends we met on one of our first tours of the West Coast," vocalist Rob Miller tells Spinner. "The debauchery that ensued throughout the week we spent with them felt like a celebration of youth and disorder. I hadn't felt that way since I was a kid, trying to live out each and every summer night as if life would end on the September Equinox. When we returned home, I heard Sean playing the opening guitar line to "Wild Summer" around the house. I felt that energy just fill the room again, as if the lid had just been removed from some type of vessel used to bottle the spirit of our travels.
"When I met with directors Devon & Hart Perez to present the song and discuss several treatments for the video, I didn't know what to expect. I wasn't sure if the story behind the song would translate visually or if I even wanted it to. The Perez Brothers showed their true genius when they captured the spirit of the song and added their own personal twist on the narrative behind it, making the video a true collaboration. 'Wild Summer' is about the youth culture of escapism: Struggling musicians on the road -- evading adult life by partying with strangers -- a girl whiling away a languorous afternoon in detention by day dreaming of a rock 'n' roll band serenading her. After all, summer is when we try to 'get away' and elude the mind-numbing boredom of society's restraints, if only in our music and in our dreams."
