Levek, 'Black Mold Grow' -- Best Songs of 2012 You Probably Haven't Heard

Florida-based songwriter David Levesque's bedroom project Levek has grown into a full-fledged band. After putting in some long hours in a pro Gainsville, Fla. recording studio, Levesque emerged with Look a Little Closer, a carefully crafted collection of disco-infused folk.

"Black Mold Grow," the album's lead single, begins with hints of Paul Simon before a key change introduces a cascade of Bee Gees-like harmonies. It's real ear candy, and reminds the average indie listener that lo-fi isn't everything.

Levek's new album hits record stores on Sept. 25 and he's touring for a few dates. Find him on the road and witness one of 2012's most overlooked acts. Who knows, he might not be so underground come 2013.
