Only Son, 'Kick 'Em Out' -- Video Premiere

Only Son's sophomore album Searchlight features melancholy New York folk music, much like lead singer Jack Dishel's previous band the Moldy Peaches. But the frontman trades any shred of comedy for bittersweet melodies on his newest track "Kick 'Em Out."

Now you can take a gander at the song's accompanying video featuring Dishel on a pastoral journey throughout the pines of the Northeast. While swilling whiskey in the morning light, our hero tries to bury the remembrances of his past, but in the end they all end up back in his bed.

"Whenever September rolls around in New York you start to get this feeling, like you're at a point in the movie where the main character lost something they wanted. It's a bittersweet season for a lot of people. To me, 'Kick 'Em Out' is an autumn song," Dishel tells Spinner.

"I started writing it walking down a street where the leaves were changing, which I only remembered after we shot the video, somehow ... Every line in the song feels like a plot twist to me. It has a certain amount of mystery to it. So when Daniel Ryan, the director, and I were talking about the video, we thought it would be great to have the narrative feel that way, too. New things get revealed all the way through; and even after you've left the story, you get the feeling that things can change again."
