This isn't about poverty, it's about publicity!
There's nothing stopping these bands (or their listeners) from making personal donations...
Also, these liberal artist/rockers say its a charity thing and they charge so much a ticket and say its going to charity but how much of their money actually goes to the cause. Sure they can show up and sing some songs for free and spout "end world poverty" over and over, but do any of them actually contribute to the cause, I guess very little to none. Why does it fall on the middle class again to buy the ticket to the concert, (because the poor cant afford the ticket) which is for "charity", but the artist will claim they raised this much money to end world poverty. All they did was donate some time, same liberal crap, different year.

Most counties in the U.S. have no rent controls. Those that do have problems with land lords who do not maintain their properties. Other places are experiencing a dramatic increase in off-shore investors who buy up properties and rase the rents as much as they want.

North Korea has plenty of money to feed it's citizens, or better yet to let their citizens feed themselves, but that would mean allowing them their freedom. Africa, same thing. Extreme poverty doesn't exist in democratic governments. And all governments have money, it is a matter of keeping it for themselves like dictators do, or doing what's right for your citizens. These musicians might have good intentions, but are misguided in my opinion.

ITS TAKING THIS COUNTRY DOWN TO ITS KNEES. MAYBE I SHOULD DO THE SAME THING. I WOULD BE BETTER OFF. I WOULDN'T HAVE TO WORK AND I WOULD GET EVERYTHING FREE. MAYBE NEIL YOUNG AND ALL THE LIBERALS SHOULD PAY FOR ALL THE LOSERS. GOOD POINT dee dee-smith, (the comments below) I AGREE WITH YOU 100 PERCENT. LEAVE US ALL ALONE AND GET A JOB.

No matter who is in charge the poor will remain poor because they do not want to take responsibility for themselves. I'm so tired of hearing im intitled to this, I deserve this, I have 5 kids with three baby dadies - I need help. They choose to be poor in most situations, not all, but most. What I'm tired of is working full time to pay for these people to take my money via food stamps, medicade, free school lunches, section 8 housing, etc. As far as world poverty, why is it the United States job to help everyone. Our country is in the worst economic state it has been in for a long, long time and we cant seem to help get our own out of poverty. Let the leaders of their own countries help but that would make sense.

September 29 2012 at 4:36 PM Report abuse Permalink +1 rate up rate down ReplyI commend everyone out there, fans-spectators-and especially the artists whom are taking the time and effort and using their talents to strive for and to encourage further change. There should be no hunger and thirst on our planet and it is a shame their is. Those of us who have resources need to be more grateful and aware of our excess habits and we need to continually seek ways to bring awareness and help for those who have so little. Because there really are those who go home at night and have so little to eat or feed their children, both in our homes and streets here in America and terribly so in countries suffering from famine, poor leadership and natural disasters.
