Contactmusic reports the 14-track album will come out Nov. 13 and includes Green Day performing "The Forgotten." Bassist Mike Dirnt told Yahoo the group "readily agreed" to contribute to the hit string of films because they're "an insane cultural phenomenon" as well as being impressed with previous Twilight soundtracks.
Meanwhile, Feist performs "Fire in the Water" and Passion Pit opens the album with "Where I Come From." St. Vincent and Ellie Goulding also appear with Goulding's "Bittersweet" produced by her current beau Skrillex. As well Christina Perri -- who appeared on the soundtrack to the first part of Breaking Dawn -- will return with "A Thousand Years (Part Two)."
The soundtracks for the Twilight series date back to 2008 and even then seemed impressive with Muse, Linkin Park, Iron & Wine and Mutemath appearing on the initial offering. The following year The Twilight Saga: New Moon soundtrack featured Band of Skulls, Thom Yorke, and The Killers. Bruno Mars, Metric, The Dead Weather, The Black Keys and The Joy Formidable have all appeared on subsequent soundtrack albums.
Given the theme of wolves in the Twilight series, sadly Wolf Parade, Wolfmother, Howlin' Wolf nor Los Lobos have ever been included on a soundtrack, not to mention that Duran Duran signature tune.
Track list for Twilight: Breaking Dawn - Part 2:
Passion Pit "Where I Come From"
