Spinner staff recently had the pleasure of hearing cuts from the forthcoming album in our offices and the record sounds like nothing Deluka has done before. Produced by Dan the Automator (Gorrilaz, Kasabian), the group were able to realize the idea of "turning landscapes into soundscapes" that is at the heart of the new record.
A taste of their new direction, "Never Alone" features Ellie Innocenti's vocals at the center of spiraling drums, synths and guitars. Innocenti explains the thought process behind the message of the song:
"'Never Alone' was written on the road last year. It's about the catch 22 of being on the move for long periods. The claustrophobia of being around people 24/7, the highs of seeing these breathtaking landscapes at arms length, and the frustration of not being able to pause time and put your feet on the ground to enjoy the moment," she told Spinner.
