Grab a Root and Growl features carefully constructed kitsch, accordion and waltzing guitars, while the Citizen Bands' stage act adds a whole lot of sexy to the mix. The group's newest video "I Swung the Election," is a simple snapshot of the Citizens in action.
Mark McAdams, Rachelle Garniez, Rain Phoenix, Ian Buchanan, Adam Crystal, Mike Jackson and Nina Persson (of the Cardigans) on lead vocals give a rousing performance whilst traveling on the famed Lennon Bus.
"The Lennon Bus [is] an incredible organization that helps to fill the void left by arts education cuts across the country by teaching students the ins and outs of creating music and video ... Bringing together the Lennon Bus and the Citizens Band for this performance was the perfect collaboration." Grab a Root and Growl's executive producer Linda Carbone tells Spinner.
"We had a blast recording in their state-of-the-art mobile studio!"
The band will be playing a string of shows in from Oct. 24 through the 27th at the Abrons Arts Center in Manhattan. The performances are co-sponsored by MoveOn.org and will feature very special guests Julia Stiles, Joe Sumner, Alia Shawkat and Ren.
A portion of the Citizens Band's latest album profits will be donated to The National Association of Free and Charitable Clinics -- a non-profit association of community-based, free medical clinics in the U.S. who serve uninsured Americans while also performing public policy advocacy.
