The musician, born Claire Boucher, tweeted on Tuesday she was having some issues which would leave fans in Calgary, Winnipeg and Saskatoon out of luck for the time being.
"Hey guys, so sorry 4 the cancelled shows. im having trouble w hearing loss, tinnitus & am trying 2 stay away from loud music 4 a bit," she said, adding news about the cities affected in a followup tweet. She also said she was "still planning to finish the tour and will try 2 get back 2 Canada" as soon as she could.
Perhaps the only oddity was that Grimes still carried on with her show at Vancouver's Commodore Ballroom last night to some favorable reviews. There's no word if any of the U.S. dates will be cancelled as Grimes will return Stateside with an Oct. 23 show in Chicago. In November she heads to Europe and then Australia before joining the Coachella Cruise in mid-December.
The latest ailment comes after the hard luck singer had her gear stolen while on tour in Manchester in late August.
Next came the ankles. On Sept. 6 she tweeted "in an attempt to avoid further damage on my already sprained ankle while jumping down a flight on stairs, i sprained my other ankle," she said before later adding the same day that the "tour is cursed."
However, she was taking solace in the fact that "with all pain comes painkillers" and "all injuries were sustained b/c this job is fucking awesome."
Grimes is touring behind this year's Visions album, one which made the short list of this year's Polaris Music Prize, which was won by Feist for Metals.
