In Her Words: "I wrote 'Can't You See' years ago actually. When I started writing it, I was originally singing 'Can't you see I want you? Can't you see I need you?' but the more I thought about the person I was actually singing this about, the more I realized I was probably the only one feeling that way, so I reversed the sentiment and decided to sing about NOT wanting or needing that person. So many of my songs have this 'why'd you leave me?' sentiment about them, I wanted to have one be about me being the strong one who decided to walk away from something that just wasn't going to work. And in the end, it proved to be quite true of me in singing it that way. It was kind of a 'can't you see, Steph? You don't need him' moment I was able to uncover in the process of writing it."
