In His Words: "This song is from my new record, called Pink Thunder, which is a collection of twenty-two songs I made from poems by some of my favorite (and some of the most celebrated) contemporary American poets. This one is from a poem called "Florida," written by Travis Nichols (from the book 'See Me Improving,' published by Copper Canyon Press). It's not easy to boil a poem down to a single sentence without losing something crucial, but let's just say that 'Florida' heads to outer space on the disembodied songs of crickets, stars, spider eggs and the Gulf of Mexico. In the process, a sleepless kid learns that there's another kind of space between himself and everything else, including his father."
