Jim James, 'Know Til Now' -- New Song

My Morning Jacket's enigmatic frontman Jim James is striking out on his own. The singer will release his debut solo album Regions of Light and Sound of God via ATO Records on Feb. 5. And to tide you over until 2013, James has dropped his first single "Know Til Now."

The brand new tune has an undeniable MMJ flare, reminiscent of the Louisville band's earliest work, but with an extra injection of mystery. The bass-heavy track takes you on an astral trip on the wings of vintage synths that toe the line between kitschy and funky.

"Know Til Now" also has an excellent breakdown near the end of the song, complete with a throwback sax solo. Check out the track below and stay tuned for some more Jim James solo material in the near future.
