On "Autumn Carnival," the Dandies reached out to alt-rock legend David J of Bauhaus and Love and Rockets. Together, they've created a ghostly chord progression that singer Courtney Taylor-Taylor whispers above, while a searing hot lead line makes jilted movements in the background.
The song's accompanying video is just as mysterious. A poor boy, fascinated with the macabre, dons a skeleton costume and goes out to run amok on the beach.
"The song came from David J and I discussing 'Something Wicked This Way Comes,'" Taylor-Taylor tells Spinner. "The theme here is how, as we age, our view of youth and our feelings regarding what it means become paper thin and almost totally unrealistic."
