"TO ANYBODY INTERESTED AS TO WHY WE ARE FEATURED IN A TOYOTA ADVERT: We too are interested to know why our music is featured in a sexist sports car advert that encourages men to live out their 'inner chauvinist,'" WU LYF tell fans on Facebook.
"We have not consented to this, we have not earned a penny from this and on behalf of the band I am f---ing angry about this ... Wouldn't have minded so much if it was for a Lamborghini."
As Pitchfork points out, it is unclear if the "White Trash Beauty" video below was officially commissioned by Toyota. The ad features wives "freaking out" when they find out that their husbands have purchased such a midlife crisis mobile.
Spinner has reached out to Happiness, Brussels, the agency that created the ad, but we have not received a response. Calls to Toyota from NME were also left unanswered.
