In Her Words: "This song came about while I was sitting in my backyard one day, watching my dog Kaiser chasing nothing in particular. I think most people can look at their pets (or children) and see how much joy they get from so little. For me, seeing him run laps around my yard made me realize how much of a cynic I had become at the ripe age of 25. People make up rules for themselves, and most of the time, we should all just go after whatever we want, however we want. I don't consider 'Kaiser' a didactic or finger pointing song. It's more of a 'holy shit how did I let life become this way for me?!' type of song. Setting lyrics aside, everything from the 'careful' nature of the arrangement in the beginning to the chaos and urgency in the guitar solo at the end was done intentionally to sound like an uptight person slowly unraveling ... but in a positive way." -- Singer Sarah Houser
