Teaming up with Crazy Horse, his most dangerous musical partners in crime, the grunge godfather produced an album that had not one, but three lengthy meandering guitar jam freakouts -- the half-hour long "Driftin' Back" and the over 16-minute "Ramada Inn" and "Walk Like a Giant."
What this adds up to is an album aimed straight at the addled brains of Young's baked and devoted hippie burnout demographic.
The kicker: he made this stoner rock hot box after he had sworn off drugs and alcohol, saying, "I did it for 40 years. Now I want to see what it's like to not do it. It's just a different perspective."
Listening to Psychedelic Pill, it's clear Young is armed with enough flashbacks to survive sobriety. For the rest of Neil's fandom, however, the detox might not be so easy.
So in order to help everyone come down gently, Spinner has created a list of 10, like, totally groovy psychedelic things about Neil Young.
