Don't get us wrong. The guy is unparalleled at promoting feelgood values, and camaraderie. But the dirty-shirted New Yorker has since been "uninvited" from his upcoming trip to the Middle Eastern country after officials realized that it was a weird decision in the first place.
"The embassy determined that [Andrew W.K.] was probably not a best choice and didn't meet our standards," a spokesman for the State Department told DCist. The official also says that W.K. was never designated a "cultural ambassador," though he was invited to speak at the U.S. embassy in Manama.
The singer's plan to preach the "power of positive partying" has since been quelled by the powers that be.
"I'm just blown away. After a year of planning, the US State Dept. just canceled my Middle East trip because I'm too party," the rocker tweets. If Andrew W.K. is sad, then this is a really bad day for rock'n'roll. Seriously.
