Video: "Knot In My Heart"
Highlight: "We went a little crazy doing this video," vocalist Zachary Gray tells Spinner. "We originally thought it would take us three nights max, but it ended up taking six. Every night we showed up on set and it felt like that movie Groundhog Day: The exact same routine, the exact same clothes. Nathan [Gilliss, animator] telling me where to stand, 'Turn your left toe out 1.5 inches ... look right a bit ... too much ... good hold still,' then an endless five-second pause for the exposure ... 'next' and I move ahead three inches. I had a walkie talkie in my jacket because sometimes I was standing in truck traffic which drowned out his instructions. I'm sure it was the hardest any of us have worked for free.
"We were at it all night every night for a week and the locals thought we were insane. This one class act parked his Lexus SUV right in the middle of where we were shooting and ran off saying 'I own this building, f--- you' and didn't come back. We had to reshoot that whole scene somewhere else, thanks to him, and I think our parents would be proud that we never did all the sick things we talked about doing to his car. By the end of the week, it was just a surreal thing that we did for seemingly no reason. We had forgotten why we were doing it. Oh, the night time? No that's not where we sleep, that's where I stand in a street doing glacial tai chi while these guys take my picture a thousand times until dawn. Now that it's over and the video is out it seems like a hilarious and worthwhile thing to have done."
